James Talarico has been projected to win the U.S. senate seat in Texas. He defeats republican challenger Ken Paxton in a race that many strategists thought was a pipe dream for democrats. In an ongoing blue wave that is happening in this election, many Texas races are going blue in very important roles. This adds to the growing lead the democrats have in the senate after already taking control of the house this evening. This will be the first time a democrat has filled a Texas senate seat since 1994. As a former teacher and Presbyterian preacher, Talarico used that experience to level with voters about fighting corruption and lowering costs for people.
This race is viewed as the most expensive race in the history of Texas, resulting in half a billion dollars being spent. Look for more updates in the midterms as more news develops.
